This was not a blank page. The site was live, taking bookings, and carrying content built up over several years. The design had to change without touching the booking system, and without losing any existing content – the client had to be able to roll back at any point.

There was a second constraint: the work was done on a local copy and the client moved it to the live site himself, piece by piece. Every stage therefore had to stand on its own and not break what was already deployed.

We chose an approach where nothing gets deleted. The old sections stayed in the database, hidden by a single CSS class, and the new design was built on top of them:

• A new visual direction: dark anthracite with gold, Cormorant Garamond for headings, Montserrat for body text.
• Apartment cards with a photo carousel, so more images fit without redesigning the card itself.
• Dedicated pages for both apartments, plus rebuilt services and contact pages with a new enquiry form.
• A new navigation and a wp-admin login screen matched to the brand.
• The whole design lives in the child theme – two files that can be replaced or rolled back in minutes.

Along the way we found an older fault that predated the redesign: the booking form posted to the wrong address and the flow broke halfway. We fixed that separately.
